On World Population Day, July 11, 2023, let's take a look at the state of the care economy in the United States.
World Population Day is an annual event that serves to remind us of the importance of population dynamics and the importance of providing quality care for all people. This year, a more thorough examination is being conducted on the care economy in the United States—a sector that provides an invaluable service to our society, but is often undervalued and underfunded. Exploring the current state of the care economy, the challenges it faces, and how we can improve it.
The care economy is an important and growing issue in the United States due to the aging population and lack of care workers, making it difficult for people to participate in the workforce. The older population is projected to grow rapidly, which will make it difficult for many seniors to remain in their homes due to affordability, accessibility, and health service issues.
Comprehensive policies and strategies, such as expanding aging-friendly housing options, rental assistance, home repairs, and accessible residential design, can help seniors age safely and comfortably in their homes and communities. During this World Population Day let’s recognize the importance of the 'care' economy and take steps to ensure that it is supported and strengthened.
We know the world is aging and subsequently need services to care for our elders. Let's be cognizant of the services that are needed and consider how we can fill the need to provide these services. Learn more about how to offer services to care for seniors on our website at www.deveauxgroup.com.
